Getting Around Châtel
The buses in Châtel are free, and an excellent way of getting around the Portes du Soleil. In Winter, the Châtel local bus service operates everyday.
Free Buses in Châtel (Navette)
The bus stop to Vonnes is just a short walk from the chalet, you will find it just at the top of your road opposite the Fleur de Neige hotel , I find this my preferred route onto the slopes, it is very convenient for guests and the buses do not get caught up in heavy traffic at busy times, as we are the other side of the main bus meeting point at the church. Make sure you get off at Lac, where you can choose between the Portes du Soleil lift which takes you into the Super-Châtel area, this is easier than walking into town and taking the lift to this area from the centre, or you can take the the Gabelou lift to Plaine Dranse, which is easier than taking the bus from the centre of town to get to this area. The Super-Châtel lift, by the way is a stunning way to start your day, the views are amazing.
Bus Stops
Each bus has a well-displayed number and colour code showing its specific route. On each route buses stop only at precise places.
Day Services:
1 - Church/Linga/Pré-la-Joux RED
1 bus every 15 mins
2 - Petit-Châtel/Freinets/Linga BLUE
1 bus every 20 mins. Back to the village by Linga road.
3 - Béchigne/Jardy/Linga GREEN
1 bus every 30 mins. 4 connections with the shuttle service of La Chapelle d’Abondance.
4 - Les Grandes Mouilles/Village/Vonnes PINK
1 bus every 30 mins. Direct to Linga/Pre-la-Joux: 08h30-9h00-9h30-10h00.
5 - Le Boude VIOLET

You will find bus time-tables in the hall on the ground floor, if you need reminding of times, or perhaps take a photo on your phone of the times.
Après-Ski and evening service:
Departure from Centre village between 5.30 and 7.45pm: 2 buses are operating in the village only, not for Pré la Joux.
Petit-Châtel: 18:15 / 18:45 / 19:15 / 19:45
Vonnes: 18:00 / 18:30 / 19:00 / 19:30
Linga - return via Béchigne: 18:00 / 18:40 / 19:20
Linga via Freinets - return via Béchigne: 18:20 / 19:00 / 19:40.
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday a bus is operating in the village until 11.30pm
